And STV is reporting that the Buddies - managed by former Hibs boss Alan Stubbs - are keen to recruit the 24-year-old.

Hearts made their 15th signing of the summer this evening, confirming a season-long loan deal for Demetri Mitchell; the Manchester United youngster returning after a spell at the club in the second half of last term.

Another summer acquisition, Bobby Burns, has joined Livingston on a season-long loan deal but Edwards could join him in leaving Tynecastle.

The Paisley side lost 2-0 to fellow promoted side Livingston at home last weekend.
