Leigh Griffiths was recalled to the Scotland squad today alongside Charlie Adam and Charlie Mulgrew as national coach Gordon Strachan prepares for upcoming games against Qatar and Republic of Ireland.
A surprise inclusion was the Dundee goalkeeper Scott Bain, who received his first call-up with Hull City’s Allan McGregor left out.
Griffiths earned his reinstatement with 15 goals in 21 appearances for Celtic since the turn of the year. Adam has also been in goalscoring form with Stoke City in the English Premier League recently, whilst Bain’s performances have been a feature of Dundee’s impressive first season back in the Scottish Premiership.
Mulgrew is fit again after a long injury absence and made his Celtic comeback against St Johnstone on Friday night. He takes his place in the squad for the friendly with Qatar at Easter Road on Friday, June 5, and the European Championship qualifier with Ireland in Dublin on Saturday, June 13.
