South Division championship race to unravel as top eight face each other

HADDINGTON boss Stevie McLeish reckons the South Division title race will unravel after this weekend’s ‘Super Saturday’.

It sees the top eight teams facing each other – Whitburn hosting leaders Dalketh, Tranent at Fauldhouse, Falkirk entertaining Blackburn, and Haddington travelling to Livingston.

“This is a massive weekend – everything will be a lot clearer after these four games,” said McLeish. Dalkeith, who have three games to go, are two points clear of Falkirk, with Tranent a further two points adrift in third spot.

Haddington are ten points behind Dalkeith but have five games to go. “If Dalkeith win on Saturday, I think the title will be theirs,” added McLeish. “But, at the moment, the top six or seven can’t be written off.”

Haddington have been fairly banging in the goals over the past month, hitting past Harthill and eight against Stoneyburn. “We’ve been on a good run, playing some good football and also scoring goals,” said McLeish. “It’s a pity just one team goes up but the teams only have themselves to blame as they voted for that six or seven years ago.”
