Dougie Samuel’s men leapfrog East Stirlingshire into third place and now trail current Lowland League leaders East Kilbride, who they lost to last weekend, by six points. They still have games in hand over Kilby, who host Whitehill Welfare at K-Park today.

Samuel made two changes to his starting line up with Scott Maxwell and Jamie Dishington making way for Ross Allum and Blair Atkinson.

The opening 45 minutes was a tame affair with neither goalkeeper having a great deal to do, although Blair Carswell had to be alert to thwart the run of Uni’s Jack Guthrie.

Craig Stevenson’s effort sailed over the bar midway through the second half as the hosts cranked up the pressure.

Samuel made a raft of changes as the clock continued to tick down and it eventually paid off when midfielder Greenhill shot beyond Mark Tait with just seconds to spare.

The 32-year-old’s goal sparked wild celebrations for those in red and white.
