Spartans see off City rivals

Keith McLEOD had the first chance to score when he raced free in the sixth minute for Spartans. Spotting Stobie off his line, he attempted an ambitious lob which looked set to go in but the City keeper managed to get back to his line and did well to push the ball wide.

At the other end Dougie Gair looked to be set free however a last ditch tackle from Danny O’Donnell prevented any goal scoring opportunity.

Ross Guthrie then should have scored in the 35th minute but he fired high and wide just a few feet away from the goal.

Spartans eventually opened the scoring in the 55th minute when Ally MacKinnon headed Chris Anderson’s inviting corner into the net.

Spartans doubled the lead in the 68th minute. A Danny O’Donnell long ball was brilliantly controlled by Keith McLeod, his shot beat Stobie but hit the post. Anderson was quickest to react and poked the ball home from a few yards out.
