After a plea on social media for fans to help clear the K-Park arena of overnight snow, the Lowland League fixture was given the go ahead.
The first half saw the hosts come closest to breaking the deadlock, with the crossbar saving Spartans twice in 60 seconds, then MacDonald’s shot flashing across the face of the Blair Carswell’s goal.
Spartans came out the hungrier after the break and five minutes after the interval, Hunter collected a cross from Aaron Murrell on the edge of the box and unleashed an unstoppable volley into the roof of the net.
Murrell came close to doubling the Spartans lead with a fine turn and shot from 18 yards ou, and Carswell bravely denied Gormley at the other end.
The home support thought their team had levelled in the 75th minute when Connelly’s shot hit the back of the net – only to realise it had done so via the surrounding fence.
