Star expect tough game at Sauchie

Newtongrange go into the Dechmont Forklift Cup semi- final at Sauchie tonight knowing they are in for a hard game, writes JOHN GILMOUR.

Boss Alan Miller said: “Sauchie have come out on top of a very difficult section which contained Super League side Bathgate Camelon and the current champions, Bo’ness. They won all their games without conceding a single goal.

“They have started the season in tremendous form. They are unbeaten in the league, although there have only been a couple of games played, so it a hard task for us.”

Newly promoted to the Premier League, Sauchie have enjoyed a string of good results.

Manager Fraser Duncan said: “We’ve had this great run in the League Cup, far better than I could have hoped for. This season I would hope teams coming to Beechwood Park will find it difficult. The semi-final is the icing on the cake and all we’re aiming for is to give a good account of ourselves. Anything else is a bonus.”
