Stilring keep up the chase

Stirling University 3Whitehill Welfare 1

Alan Brown opened the scoring early in the second half putting Whitehill in front after a goalmouth scramble and blasting the ball into the net.

Stirling, chasing Spartans at the top, were soon level however, after a brilliant one-touch Chris Geddes lay off saw Paul Sludden run clear through and neatly finished the equaliser into the bottom left corner.

Stirling took the lead within five minutes, after a Jack Nixon long throw found its way to Liam Corr in the box, and after Corr touched the ball goalward it deflected off Whitehill man Young and into the net.

The crucial goal then came from another Jack Nixon throw on 65 minutes. Stirling netted their third after a quick break saw Sludden released on the wing from a long throw, and he beat a man before cutting the ball back into the box. Denholm was waiting in the area to bundle the ball in and seal the 3-1 win for his side.
