Under-fire Craig Thomson to referee Partick-Hibs this weekend

Under-fire Betfred Cup final referee Craig Thomson will take charge of Hibs' Premiership match against Partick Thistle at Firhill this weekend.

Thomson has been at the centre of a storm since awarding Celtic a controversial penalty which led to the second goal in their 2-0 win over Motherwell at Hampden.

And he also showed a straight red to Motherwell defender Cedric Kipre after deciding he had fouled Celtic’s Scott Sinclair in the box, leaving Moussa Dembele to score from the spot and effectively end the final as a contest.

Afterwards, Sinclair was widely accused of “simulation”, leading to Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers to jump to his player’s defence.
