Injury, players moving on and suspension have taken their toll on Spartans’ squad. “There’s been quite a few personnel changes,” explained Samuel. “With Aaron [Murrell] moving on, [Gary] Cenerazzo moving on, Ally Mackinnon’s ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament sadly, so he’ll be out for a year. We’ve had Alan Brown suspended and Conner Duthie’s loan has expired so there’s been a lot of changes in that short period of time.”

The good news is that Murrell has returned from Dundee Utd’s training camp in Turkey and can continue playing as part of his development loan.

Edinburgh Uni go west to BSC Glasgow knowing they will eclipse their points total for last season if they win. It would also allow them to leapfrog East Kilbride, who face Celtic in the fifth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup, into fifth position. Whitehill Welfare welcome Stirling University to Ferguson Park, hoping for a first competitive home game since November.
