Rangers’ late, late victory over Kilmarnock was a spanner in the works, with Aberdeen sitting on 69 points, Rangers on 68 and Hibs on 66.

However, Hibs can still snatch that second spot, which would cap an impressive return to the Scottish Premiership for Neil Lennon’s side.

Aberdeen have a home match against Rangers on Tuesday night, before travelling to Celtic on the final day of the season.

Hibs travel to Tynecastle on Wednesday, before hosting Rangers on the last day.

There are several combinations of results which could see the Hibees seal second, with their fate very much in their own hands.

If Aberdeen beat Rangers, Hibs have to beat Hearts and the Gers in their final two matches and hope that Celtic defeat the Dons on the final day of the season

This would see a final table of Hibs on 72 points,

Should Aberdeen and Rangers draw, Hibs could nab second with a win and a draw from their final two matches, depending on goal difference.

And if Rangers defeat the Dons 24 hours before Hibs make the short journey to Tynecastle to face Hearts, Lennon’s men would have to beat Hearts and then Rangers on the final day of the season, and rely on Aberdeen failing to beat Celtic, or beating Celtic but finishing on a poorer goal difference.
