Whitehill Welfare hold on to reach quarter-finals

After trailing 1-0 at the break Whitehill, produced a strong second-half performance in front of watching new boss Stevie Hislop to secure a quarter-final with Glasgow University in the South Challenge Cup.

Ormiston took the lead after the home defence failed to clear a corner and Alexander Dimitrov drilled in from 12 yards. Whatever caretaker manager Ian Flynn said at half-time worked as the game was quickly turned on its head. Substitute James Flynn crossed for Jamie Devlin to turn home an equaliser and moments later Flynn put his side 2-1 in front with a shot from the edge of the box. Midway through the second half, Jack Jardine laid the ball off for Steven Manson to give Whitehill a two-goal cushion. They were given a nervy ending, though, as, with five minutes remaining, a cross caused confusion in the home defence and Gary Hadden pulled a goal back but, despite seeing 
Darren McGlashan pick up a second yellow card, the Lowland League side held on to progress.
