Free entry on offer in 50th Sivewright Quaich staging
The Sivewright Quaich was instigated by Bill Sivewright, a former Lothians and Scottish Golf Union president.
He came up with the idea for the event in response to an increase in the subscriptions by the SGU for non-course owning clubs.

Hide AdIt involves four-man teams playing foursomes aggregate match-play in a handicap version of the Dispatch Trophy.
It is a knock-out competition, with the final having traditionally been played at Prestonfield, which was Sivewright’s home club. Both the semi-finals and final will be hosted by the Capital club this year. “To celebrate this special year for the Sivewright Quaich, the Lothians GA have decided not to charge an entry fee in the hope that as many societies as possible will participate,” said president Paul Gibson.
“We are also trying to contact the 18 past winners who are no longer members of the association and invite them to play. We know that at least half of these still exist.”
Entries close on Monday week and clubs don’t need to be affiliated to Scottish Golf to take part in the Sivewright Quaich as membership of the Lothians GA on it own is sufficient.
For two other LGA events – the Champions of Champions and the Handicap Match Play – the closing date for entries is Monday.
