Golf: Gallacher Foundation is growing stars

SWANSTON NEW was awash with youngsters last Sunday as it staged the second Stephen Gallacher Foundation event of the season.

With the man himself playing in the Malaysian Open, local hero John Gallagher filled in to present the prizes.

Oliver Morton and Bobby Rushford, two of the PGA pros at the club, also did their bit by helping out Jane Connachan and David Burns with free lessons. “The course is a fantastic advert for junior golf and was in tremendous condition,” said Foundation manager Scott Knowles. “The golf on the day was exceptional. Two of the boys in the under-12s, Callum Murray and Fraser Smith, both scored 32 shots while two of the boys in the Under 10s, Callum Thom and Jamie Fulton, scored 33 and 36.”
