Golf: Murray and Warren profit from Dunhill

NINE Scottish golfers are now inside the top 115 on the European Tour money-list after a profitable Dunhill Links Championship for George Murray and Marc Warren.

Despite missing the cut in the pro-am event, rookie Scott Jamieson is still the leading Scot in the Race to Dubai, lying in 40th spot with winnings of £435,553. Former Open champion Paul Lawrie is next in 46th, with Stephen Gallacher (53rd), Richie Ramsay (55th) and Peter Whiteford (58th) also on course to qualify for the year-ending Dubai World Championship.

Murray, meanwhile, has leapt nearly 100 places to 87th, the Fifer having earned a whopping £174,000 for his career-best third-placed performance in the Dunhill Links.

Eight-time Order of Merit winner Colin Montgomerie, who finished just outside the top 20 at St Andrews, is 92nd, 13 places ahead of Warren.

Like Murray, Warren headed into the Dunhill Links facing a trip to the dreaded Qualifying School at the end of the season. But he jumped 50 places for finishing fourth.

Dunbar’s David Drysdale is down to 112th after he missed the cut by a single shot on Saturday night while Lloyd Saltman (129th) and brother Elliot (191st) both dropped three places after failing to secure spots in the Dunhill.
