Helped by a win at Royal Musselburgh in the last counting tournament, the Bruntsfield Links player sits on 450 points. That’s just four ahead of Craigielaw’s Kenny Glen, so it’s all to play for in the Broomieknowe Open on Sunday.

Longniddry’s Michael Bacigalupo sits third on 391 points, with Keith Reilly (Silverknowes) and Ricky Moffat (Turnhouse) the only others to have amassed more than 300 points.

• Uphall pair Emma Cassidy and Barbara McCrory are heading for the “Home of Golf” to play in one of golf’s largest participation events in the UK.

They have qualified for the Coronation Foursomes on the Eden Course at St Andrews on 24 September after winning an area final at Ratho Park.

Cassidy and McCrory amassed 39 points in the Stableford event, pipping Musselburgh’s Anne Blundell and Anne Rorrison by a point for a place in the final.

• Sam Westwood, son of Ryder Cup star Lee, is leading one of the Stephen Gallacher Foundation Order of Merits this season.

The Renaissance Club member is out on front in the under-18s title race, helped by a win in the Murrayfield Junior Open.

Ratho Park’s Ciaran Paterson tops the boys’ under-15 standings with Sean Gallacher (Prestonfield) leading the handicap table in that category.

Royal Musselburgh’s Alicja Gorka tops both points lists in the girls’ under-18s section.

• Former Linlithgow pro Kenny Monaghan will be hoping he can reign in Spain later this year.

He’s through to the final of the SkyCaddie PGA Pro-Captain Challenge after coming out on top in PGA in Scotland qualifier at West Lothian.

Monaghan, who is now at Stirling, teamed up with his club captain, William McQuillan, to secure victory with 48 points. They’re now off to the £22,000 final at Arabella Golf Mallorca in November.
