Winterfield’s Graham Davidson is closing in on the record for title triumphs in the Lothians Champion of Champions.
He secured his third victory in the event after beating Craigielaw’s Craig Davidson in this season’s final at Longniddry. Having also claimed the prize in 2008 and 2014, Graham is now the second most successful player in the event after five-time winner Keith Nicholson (Haddington and Gullane).
Graham twice had his nose in front in the first nine holes but Davidson took control by winning three holes in a row from the 11th to go three up and eventually triumphed 3&2.
Earlier, Graham had beaten Rory Smith (Dalmahoy) 3&2 in one semi-final while Craig ended a brave bid by Mortonhall’s Ian Dickson with a 2&1 victory.
Played at the same venue, it was an all West Lothian affair in the final of the LGA’s Handicap Match Play.
Pumpherston’s Alan Laurie ran out a 2&1 winner over David Elliot (Deer Park) after being three up at the turn.
Laurie’s success makes Pumpherston the most successful club in this event with four title triumphs.
