Graham Robertson chalked up a sixth Turnhouse Open triumph after sharing ten birdies with Simon Lockhart in a ding-dong battle.

Robertson ran out a 3&1 winner, but only after his Bathgate opponent had claimed the opening two holes, where he smashed drives more than 300 yards to set up birdies.

Loose shots by Lockhart at both the third and fourth allowed Robertson, a member of both Turnhouse and Silverknowes, to square matters.

Lockhart got his nose in front again by rolling in a 50-footer for a 2 at the fifth only to undo his good work again by gifting Robertson the next.

In trouble off the seventh tee, Lockhart produced a remarkable recovery set up an unlikely birdie to lead once more.

But a good par at the eighth followed by a chip-in birdie at the ninth swung the tie Robertson’s way.

He also birdied the difficult tenth, rifling his second shot to around four feet, before they finally halved a hole.

Robertson birdied, the 13th, Lockhart hit back with one at the 14th but par golf over the next three holes secured Robertson’s victory.
