Craigielaw golfer Grant Forrest has secured his place in the matchplay stage of the Amateur Championship at Portstewart.

Forrest, who arrived in Northern Ireland fresh from winning the St Andrews Links Trophy, shot a second-round 68 to finish at two under par. He will now face England’s Mark Geddes in the first round of matchplay.

Other Lothians qualifiers were James Ross (Royal Burgess) and Calum Hill (Tantallon), who take on Martin Keskari of Germany and Ireland’s Cormac Sharvin respectively.
