Rose, the 2014 winner, has joined Henrik Stenson in announcing his participation in the men’s event on July 12-15 on Scotland’s Golf Coast.

And, a fortnight later, the women’s equivalent, which is also sponsored by Edinburgh-based Aberdeen Standard Investments, is set to have Wie as one of its star attractions.

Rose was the defending champion when he arrived for the 2015 event at Gullane and is looking forward to trying to improve on tying for 74th behind Rickie Fowler on that occasion.

“The last time I played at Gullane I followed up with a sixth place finish in The Open, so I’m looking forward to teeing it up there again, and to two good weeks of links golf,” said the Olympic champion.

“The Scottish Open is a fantastic tournament and I’m glad to be back and vying to lift the trophy again. There’s definitely something special about playing golf in Scotland – the crowds are so knowledgeable and appreciate good play which always makes for a good atmosphere.”

Wie used last year’s women’s event at Dundonald Links in Ayrshire to help put in a strong performance in the Women’s British Open at Kingsbarns the following week. “Last year was very testing conditions and I managed to learn a lot about my game having to hit a variety of different shots,” said the American. “Hopefully I can continue to learn more this year.”
