Broomieknowe are still best when it comes to the Midlothian Women’s Championship.
After successive triumphs for the Bonnyrigg club by Hannah Scott, the event has now been won by Kate McIntosh.
She claimed the crown at Baberton, ending Scott’s run of success in the second round before going on to beat Louise Fraser (Kingsknowe) 2&1 in the final.
“Apart from being picked for Scotland’s side for the Women’s Home Internationals last year, this is as good as anything I’ve achieved in my career so far,” said the 21-year-old.
McIntosh, who works part-time in the American Golf shop at the Braid Hills Golf Centre, saved her best course golf for the back nine at Baberton.
“I was three down after ten against Hannah before turning that match around,” she reported.
“I was also down in the final on the front nine.”
Despite taking a 10 at one hole, McIntosh gained some good experience when she played in the recent Helen Holm Trophy at Troon.
Her upcoming schedule includes another of the big events on the SLGA fixture list - the Scottish Women’s Championship at Monifieth in just undcr a fortnight’s time.
“I want to be selected for the Home Internationals again so it would be great if I could go there and give a good account of myself,” she said.
