Captain Keith Reilly is looking to an on-form quartet to lead Lothians to a first Scottish Area Team title triumph in a decade this weekend.

Euan McIntosh (Turnhouse), Stuart McLaren (Bruntsfield Links), Kieran Cantley (Liberton) and Benn McLeod are all heading into the event at Newmachar on the back of wins in Scottish Order of Merit events.

McIntosh claimed the Leven Gold Medal before McLaren triumphed in the North East District Open then Cantley came out on top in the North equivalent. And last weekend, McLeod won the South-East District Open.

“It must be a long time ago that Lothians players won four on the trot at Scottish Golf level, so that’s a great boost,” admitted Reilly. “Another plus was that Stuart’s win was over the same Newmachar the course we will be playing in the ATCs.”

Also lining up for the record 13-time winners as they attempt to one better than last year’s final defeat to Lanarkshire at Dalmahoy are Mark Napier (Turnhouse), and Stuart Blair (Royal Musselburgh).

“All the players have merited their selection on the strength of their performances throughout the season and we feel it is a very strong team,” added Reilly.
