Lothians golf pro Neil Henderson has chalked up two wins during a trip to Florida to help him prepare for the new season.
Henderson, who hails from North Berwick and is a member of The Renaissance Club, produced a couple of impressive performances in handing himself an early boost in 2018.
He shot a five-under-par 65 at Wedgewood Country Club in Lakeland to win an event there by seven shots before coming out on top again at Stoneybrook West in Estero with a one-under 71.
“I am here for a month,” said Henderson, a former Scottish Junior Champion of Champions winner, who joined the paid ranks at the end of 2013.
“I’m practicing and playing as many one and two-day events as possible to get some competitive golf in before the start of the season.
“There were only 12 people in the field for the first event I won, but a win is a win and 65s always help confidence.
“The second one had a field of about 30 and I played really well in tough conditions on a long course. It showed me I can compete on the long courses by just hitting fairways and greens then holing some putts.
“I am getting some extra distance through my work with Paul Wardell and also in the gym with Craig Tumblety at Golf Fit and also my friend, Jamie Kirk, at Diamond Gym.
“That is making a difference hitting less club into the greens, as well as how good the new Ping g400 driver is working.”
