Amateur Martin Rennie pipped former PGA champion Andrew Oldcorn for the top prize as nearly 60 players beat the winter weather to play in the East Alliance event at the Glen in North Berwick.
After both had signed for 73s – net in the case of the winner – four-handicapper Rennie picked up the Pitreavie Trophy by virtue of a better last six.
Kings Acre-attached Oldcorn had the consolation of claiming the scratch spoils as he finished two shots ahead of both Ryan Buckley (Royal Musselburgh) and Andrew Erskine (Ratho Park). In the handicap event, Rennie also won by the same margin from Danny Airens (Falkirk Tryst).
Top trainee was Bathgate’s Louis Gaughan on 78 while Torwoodlee’s John Denham was leading senior with a net 80 off six. Walter Forsyth (Peebles) still tops the Handicap Order of Merit but his lead is down to one point from three players. Kingsknowe pro Chris Morris, meanwhile, has enhanced his lead but Neil Henderson (the Renaissance) drops out of top three.
