Musselburgh’s juniors on par with the very best

JUNIOR sections may be suffering at some clubs, but at Musselburgh Golf Club the youngsters are enjoying a purple patch.

The Monktonhall club currently boasts both the Lothians Junior champion (Lewis Bain) and the Lothians Junior Champion of Champions (Connor Good).

“I think this maybe the first time a club has held this double at the same time,” said junior convenor David Noon. Good has also just become the club champion, a feat fellow junior Laureen Lee also achieved this year in the ladies’ section. She succeeded Sophie Bain, another junior, and Noon sees no reason why more juniors won’t enjoy similar success in years to come.

“Norman Huguet, our professional, has just had a FlightScope teaching and custom fitting-facility installed in his proshop. Junior golf seems to be a bit on the decline in some areas but that is certainly not the case here at Musselburgh.”
