Newbattle is to stage a regional final in an event aimed at putting some fun back into golf.

The Scottish Hydro Scramble is open to all clubs affiliated to either the SGU or SLGA. It is also an event for all ages and abilities to join forces in a fun, team environment.

Clubs have until the closing date of April 13 to stage their own scramble or similar team event to determine their representatives at a regional final.

One of four venues around Scotland, Newbattle will stage its event on May 9.

The winning team then will earn a place in the Scottish Hydro Challenge Pro-Am at the Macdonald Spey Valley in Aviemore on June 24.

“We’d encourage clubs across the country to get involved in this event by hosting a local qualifier and give their members the opportunity to experience playing in a top- level pro-am,” said Colin Banks of SSE Scottish Hydro.
