Ross Callan ended his junior career on a high by winning the Golf Fit Lothians Boys’ Championship at the Braids.
Callan, the son of Bathgate pro Stuart, claimed the Spiers Trophy after beating Nathan McCulloch (Kingsknowe) in the final.
“After being semi-finalist in the under-16s two years ago and a beaten quarter-finalist in the main championship last year, it was nice to finally to get my hands on the historic trophy,” said Callan.
It was Bathgate’s first triumph since Kurt Mungall prevailed 31 years ago, with Liam Currid making it a double celebration for the West Lothian club as he won the under-16s event.
Lyle Murdoch, son of Kings Acre pro Alan, was this year’s under-14s champion after beating Craigmillar Park’s Sam Hall in that final.
