It’s been quite a summer for the Steedmans, with sisters Abby and Rachel both landing titles at Murrayfield while brother Cameron has been displaying his long-driving prowess.

Abby was 11 when she became the Capital club’s youngest-ever junior girls’ champion, beating Lauren Metcalf, the defending champion, at the 19th hole in the final. Ten years her senior, Rachel won the B Championship with a 2&1 triumph over Louise Duff.

Cameron, who plays his golf at Bruntsfield Links, qualified for the final of the American Golf Long Drive Championship. With a Callaway XR16 that was custom-fitted by Craigmillar Park pro Scott Gourlay, the 19-year-old is driving it an average 380-390 yards.
