Playing alongside Tiger Woods in an Open Championship is not for those who prefer the quiet life.

A regiment of supporters, antagonists and the downright curious can be guaranteed to tag along at times creating a maelstrom.

But Graeme McDowell’s attitude to teeing up with the world No. 1 as well as former champion Louis Oosthuizen at 2.45 tomorrow is “bring it on”.

Says the former US Open champion: “I’ve played enough golf with Tiger Woods to know what to expect. He’s a great guy to play with, very complimentary. He’s the best player in the world and maybe the best player ever. So, he’s the kind of guy you want to play with.

“I think back to Hoylake in 2006 maybe as a firm, fast Open like this one. He dismantled that course that week.

“We’ll be watching with interest his game plan. I’ve got my own game plan which I’ll be sticking to. He’s a kind of guy if you can finish one ahead of you might not be far away.”
