Sloman, a former pupil of Stewart’s Melville College, flew out to join up with the rest of the party on Monday after Scott Cameron of Forfarshire had to pull out through injury.

The ICC event technical committee approved the request for replacement Sloman to join the squad with immediate effect.

Sloman was part of the squad that played in the qualifiers in Jersey last summer and he will be keen to grab his latest opportunity with both hands.

It means there are now four Grange players involved, Sloman joining Harris Aslam, Fin McCreath and Simon Whait.

Scotland’s first pool match is on Friday against Namibia.

Meanwhile, Scotland Women’s head coach Kari Carswell has stepped down from the role.

She held the position for five years.
