The defending champions hold a one-point lead over second-placed North Berwick in the title race. They are also through to the final of the League Cup after a 3.5-1.5 win over North Berwick in the last-four matches.

Standing between Gullane and a successful defence of that piece of silverware are Kilspindie. It follows the Aberlady club winning 3-2 at Gifford, where 14-year-old Aaron Hall teamed up with Gary Porteous to record an all-important one-hole win over veteran John Archibald and Kevin Murphy.

The March 6 showdown will be between the newly-crowned Division 2 champions and the Division 1 leaders.

Gullane can retain their title if they avoid defeat at Musselburgh tomorrow, when either Longniddry or Musselburgh will join Tantallon in dropping to Division 2 next term. Longniddry conclude their campaign at Tantallon.

Meanwhile, Duddingston trainee pro Ross Munro won the Andrew Oldcorn Trophy in the latest East Alliance event of the season at Liberton. Playing at his old club, Munro carded gross 66, coming home in four-under 29, to pip Dalmahoy amateur James Silvestro (Dalmahoy) by 0.5 in a card countback.

Munro shared the scratch spoils on 66 with Louis Gaughan (Bathgate), Marc Owenson (Gullane) and Duncan Stewart (Turnhouse).
