Heriot's maintain good form with win over Stoneywood-Dyce

Heriot's skipper Keith Morton praised his side's all-round display after they kept their good recent run of form going with a victory over Stoneywood-Dyce on Saturday.

The Goldenacre men have now won three of their four CSL Eastern Premiership matches in 2016 after this nine-wicket Duckworth/Lewis triumph.

The visitors batted first and all of the Heriot’s bowlers were on form to bowl them out for 132, their captain Shaun Coetzer digging in for 51.

With the ball, Scotland age-grade spinner Ryan Brown took 3-16 with seamer Adrian Neill taking the exact same figures.

With rain starting to hit the Capital in the middle of the afternoon, the Heriot’s batsmen knew they were going to have to score runs quickly to make sure of the win.

Steve Knox and James Hearn hit 27 in the first two-and-a-half overs before a number of rain delays.

They did get back out, though, and Knox’s 63 not out saw Heriot’s reach their revised victory target of 102 in just 10.4 overs.

Morton said: “We played well in this match, it was a solid win and we have built up some good momentum.

“Now we have more options in our bowling attack and the guys are really looking forward to the coming weeks and keeping things going.”

Mazars Grange also won, gaining a ten-wicket (D/L) victory over Aberdeenshire.

The visitors scored 193 all out batting first, seamer Chris Sole taking three wickets for Grange.

The hosts then reached their revised target of 111 in just seven overs. Nick Farrar made 58 not out and Gordon Goudie smashed 45 not out in a dominant display.

Carlton slipped to their first league defeat of the season at Forfarshire. Batting first at Forthill, the visitors posted 180 all out, Gordon Drummond making 46 and skipper Steve Gilmour 30.

Forfarshire managed to win by three wickets with their all-rounder Graeme Beghin leading the way with 59 and Craig Wallace making 39.

At Myreside, the Watsonians-Falkland match was cut short by the weather.

Meanwhile, in the Baillie Gifford ESCA Championship, the rain hit a number of matches and they were not completed.

Marchmont did manage to finish their match, bowling Holy Cross out for 106 and winning by four wickets in the end.
