Hockey: CALA ring changes with Bell

Ramsay BELL returns to bolster newly-promoted CALA Edinburgh as they entertain hockey Scottish Cup holders Western at Meggetland tomorrow (3.30pm).

Hard-running Bell missed last weekend’s 3-2 defeat by city rivals Inverleith as he was mountain biking in Ireland.

Bell, a former Inverleith player, joins an almost full-strength squad for the key game as the only absentee is Tayside-based Stephen Glass who is recovering from surgery and could be back within the next four weeks.

Western will be keen to build on last Saturday after snatching a 3-3 draw at Grove Menzieshill, Dougie Simpson netting late on.

Grange, who competed in a pre-season tournament at Edinburgh University last weekend, open their campaign at home to Grove Menzieshill at Peffermill (1.30pm).

Inverleith, meanwhile, aim to build on their win at Meggetland when they entertain Clydesdale at Peffermill (noon).

The only other fixture sees Hillhead host defending champions Kelburne (2.45pm) at Jordanhill.

In Division Two, Waverley Inveresk Trinity travel to HMS Caledonia (2.30pm) to face Carnegie following their 5-3 defeat by Watsonians in their opener last weekend.
