Hockey: Resurgent Grange hit the summit

Grange collected back-to-back wins at the weekend to move top of hockey’s Division One.

Their platform was a 3-1 home victory over Clydesdale on Saturday where Scottish international Rob Barr, midfielder Gary Cameron and forward Cammy Fraser were on target.

Grange, shocked 5-2 at home to Western recently, continued their recovery with an 8-4 victory at Aberdeen yesterday, Fraser netting a hat-trick and Barr a double, keeping the North-East side at the foot of the table.

Coach Colin Clarke said: “To score eight goals against a
Division One side is good but we lost concentration.”

Elsewhere, Phil Hall and Adam Mackenzie both scored doubles as Inverleith bounced back from defeat by Grange to beat Western 5-1 at Auchenhowie.

Edinburgh University picked up their first win thanks to a 5-2 victory at Watsonians before losing by the same scoreline at home to Kelburne yesterday.

On Saturday, an Alan Forsyth double and singles from
Johnny Christie and Edinburgh-based debutant Scott Sutherland helped Kelburne see off early league leaders Grove
Menzieshill 4-0.
