Ice Hockey: Goldie is D man for Caps

Edinburgh CAPITALS today announced the signing of young Scottish defenceman Frazer Goldie to a full-time contract.

The 20-year old, who represented Great Britain at under-18 level, spent the majority of last season playing with Solway Sharks in the English National Ice Hockey League, but also managed 13 games for the Edinburgh side, impressing Capitals’ player-coach Richard Hartmann.

Hartmann believes the Irvine-born player has the ability to develop his game. “He is a good-sized D man. At 6ft 1in and 205lb he will be a great addition to the club,” he said.

Goldie is the fourth player signed by Capitals for the new season, which begins in September, after Hartmann, Rene Jarolin, and Marcis Zembergs.
