Edinburgh Caps downed by Peter LeBlanc-inspired Fife Flyers

A Peter LeBlanc hat-trick hit Edinburgh Capitals for six as their Gardiner Conference winless run was extended to 15 games after Fife Flyers humbled them 6-1 in Kirkcaldy.

Chase Schaber opened the scoring before two from LeBlanc – one either side of the first interval – extended their lead as another miserable night for the Capitals loomed, with James Isaacs adding to the misery with Flyers’ fourth.

Ricards Birzins scored a fifth without reply, prompting a timeout from Edinburgh, which seemed to briefly trigger a response as Dylan Anderson smashed home.

LeBlanc’s third completed the night’s work for Todd Dutiaume’s side, leaving Edinburgh to turn their attention to tomorrow’s jaunt along the M8 where Braehead Clan await them, fresh from a weekend 5-2 win over Sheffield Steelers.

It’s another clash against a team against whom they’ve yet to taste victory this season, with the Clan finding themselves in the unusual position of fighting for the play-offs.

John Tripp’s side have blown more cold than hot throughout the season and while they will be favourites for this meeting, Edinburgh will hope to cause an upset. Face-off at Braehead Arena is 7.30pm.
