Elite League confirm Racers' application to join set-up

The Elite League today confirmed they'd received an application from Murrayfield Racers to play in next season's top flight.

Racers Leisure Limited – led by David Hand, the current chairman of the Scottish Ice Hockey Association – have secured the ice-time contract at Murrayfield Ice Rink and aim to create a new team in the UK-wide league.

If successful, the move would almost certainly spell the end for the Edinburgh Capitals after 20 years playing the sport in the city.
