Ice Hockey UK has announced Edinburgh Capitals player-coach Richard Hartmann as assistant to new GB national team boss Pete Russell.
Hartmann, along with Telford Tigers head coach Tommy Watkins, will work under Russell as GB attempt to win promotion from World Championship Division 1B in Eindhoven later this year.
Hartmann said of the role, which will run alongside his position at Edinburgh: “I’m really happy to have been asked. It’s a great opportunity and a big responsibility – I’m excited to be a part of it.
“Jim Anderson [Ice Hockey UK Chairman] contacted me before Christmas and asked if I would be interested, and I said yes. I have an idea of what my role will be.”
