EDINBURGH CAPITALS defenceman Kyle Flemington has signed a new contract that will see the 6ft 7in blue-liner return for a second season with the ice hockey club.
Flemington becomes the first player signed ahead of the new season – which gets under way in September – and comes just 48 hours after player-coach Richard Hartmann left the club.
The 23-year-old Canadian, initially signed as a trialist at the start of last season, won over fans with his no-nonsense style, scoring two goals and six assists in 54 games.
He said: “I couldn’t be happier to be coming back to a great city and an organisation that I feel is right on the cusp of being a real contender in this league. I would like to thank the Caps fans and everyone involved for making Edinburgh feel like home for myself and my girlfriend and we are looking forward to the upcoming season.”
Capitals co-owner Scott Neil said: “Kyle does a lot of work both on and off the ice for the club and deserves this new deal.”
