Edinburgh Capitals today announced home grown defenceman Jay King as their latest signing as the 19-year old penned a new one-year deal with the club.
King, a product of the Murrayfield junior programme, who can also play as a forward, scored three goals and four assists last season and becomes the first British player to be re-signed to the club under new player-coach Riley Emmerson.
In preparation for Caps’ Elite League campaign which begins in September, Emmerson has arranged for King, the current Scotland U-19 captain, to attend a month-long professional pre-season training camp in Canada. King said: “I am really excited about the training camp and the season ahead and look forward to working with Emmo next season.”
Emmerson said: “Jay is a great prospect and I expect him to be in top shape for the start of the season. The training camp in Canada will be a great experience for him and provide him with the best preparation for the year ahead.”
King joins Emmerson, Kyle Flemington and new American forward Trevor Gerling, in what promises to be a new-look Capitals team. The club are set to announce their fifth signing tomorrow.
