HOME-BRED Danny McIntyre has been confirmed on Edinburgh Capitals roster for this season.

The former Fife Flyers defenceman can play forward or defence.

He aid: “I currently work as a personal trainer and this has helped me prepare. I think I will be in the best shape of my career as the new season starts.”

Scott Neil, Edinburgh Capitals’ general manager, said: “Danny has developed into a strong reliable player who is not flashy but effective.

“He has clearly developed his own strength and conditioning over the last year as his position as a personal trainer has helped him focus on developing this area.”

Meanwhile, Capitals have signed Philip Macquire as the strength and conditioning coach.

Macquire is undertaking a Masters programme at Edinburgh University and Neil admitted: “It is an area that has often been neglected in the past and off-ice training has often been left to the individual players during the season.

“We will be working with Phil to provide a co-ordinated training approach to injury prevention and performance enhancement.”
