Kay leads the way for trial

DUNBAR’S Danny Kay, who is just back from his eight-week trip to South Africa with the Scottish squad, spearheads the Lothians golf team taking on Kingsknowe tomorrow on their home patch in an early-season trial match.

There’s a strong Dunbar element to the side, with Kay, who lost to David Law in last year’s Scottish Amateur final, being joined by three clubmates – Dean Muir, Stephen Neilson and Stephen Simants.

Scheduled to join forces with them are Swanston New left-hander Malcolm Campbell, Greenburn’s Gary Corrigan, Sean McGarvey from Glencorse, Duddingston duo David Miller and Stuart Smith, and Craigielaw’s 2011 Lothians Order of Merit winner, Ross Noon.

An experienced duo in the shape of Mark Timmins (Pumpherston) and Keith Reilly (Silverknowes) are on standby in case there are any call-offs.

Lothians also play Stirlingshire at Haddington on April 1 in the build-up to this year’s Scottish Area Team Championship at Blairgowrie.
