As was the case 12 months ago, she beat Kingsknowe’s Louise Fraser in the title showdown, winning 2&1 on this occasion at Murrayfield.

Harburn’s Alison McBride, the top qualifier, went out in the quarter-finals, as did McIntosh’s clubmate and two-time champion, Hannah Scott.

The B final also ended on the 17th, where Isobel Halliday (Merchants) secured victory over Lochend’s Jaci Moriarty.

• Team building

A new format for the Lothians Team Tournament at Kingsknowe this Saturday has helped attract a rise in entries.

Instead of teams of four playing at two courses, it’s been reduced to three this year and at one course.

“Entries are up by ten to 53 clubs from last year,” reported Lothians Golf Association secretary Neil Park.

• Paul Lawrie Match Play price

An adult day ticket for the Paul Lawrie Match Play at Archerfield Links on August 4-7 will cost just £15, with under-18s getting in free.

The tournament host is delighted about that and also getting VisitScotland on board again as the event’s associate partner.

“To have a beautiful links course combined with valuable support ensures we’ll have another very exciting week of match play,” said Lawrie.

Broomieknowe are the defending champions in this week’s Edinburgh Ladies Inter Club at Baberton.

The holders take on Musselburgh tonight, with the winners facing either Turnhouse or Murrayfield, last year’s beaten finalists, in the last eight.

Hosts Baberton are in the other half of the draw, where potential semi-final opponents include two near neighbours – Kingsknowe and Dalmahoy.
