The Capital hope, who sat out last week’s European Championships, will get her penultimate tune-up before Rio in an ultra-tough 800 metres which also includes gold medal favourite Caster Semenya and Glasgow 2014 winner Eunice Sum.

“I’ve wanted to do Monaco for years now so it’s nice to be able to finally go out and do it,” said Sharp, who is currently ranked ninth in the world.

“It’s a fast meet. It’ll be the same girls out there so it’s good experience but it’s ultimately about making the start line in Rio. The heats and semi-finals are going to be the hardest part. It’s easy when you get to the final.”

Pitreavie’s Eilidh Doyle runs the 400m hurdles against new European champion Sara Petersen.
