McCann's 83 helps Carlton into Masterton Trophy semi-finals

A quality innings of 83 not out from Rory McCann helped Carlton through to the Murgitroyd Masterton Trophy semi-finals with Stuart&Stuart Penicuik also progressing.

The Grange Loan side, who last won the Twenty20 event in 2012, have had a good start to the campaign and the former Irish cap was the star against SMRH.

Batting first the home side made 160-6 off their 20 overs with McCann making his runs from 60 balls.

McCann hit six fours and was supported by 16 apiece from Ruairi Macpherson and Fraser Watts. Captain Greg Ruthven took two wickets for SMRH.

The SMRH reply got off to a bad start when Greg Bissett was out in the first over. Michael Miller battled for 31, but they were 104 all out and lost by 56 runs. Arun Pilai and Macpherson both took three wickets for Carlton.

Penicuik defeated Murrayfield DAFS by 20 runs.
