The No.10 seeds lost their opening two Pool B matches on Monday and followed that yesterday by completing an unwanted clean sweep of four round-robin defeats. They at least took New Zealand third seeds Paul Coll and Campbell Grayson to three games but, after also going down in three to Welshmen Joel Makin and Peter Creed, Moran admitted: “Results-wise, it was a nightmare. We played some decent stuff, though, and got close in every match. We’ve learned a lot and we’ll know what to work on for next year.” Having finished bottom of Group B, they now face Malaysia’s Sanjay Chal and Ivan Yuen in a play-off for ninth place.
