Murrayfield curler Bruce Mouat completed a near-perfect tournament by winning the Forfar Open final.
The world junior bronze medallist beat Cameron Bryce 7-2 in their semi-final then defeated Scott MacLeod 7-4 in the final after counting four stones at the fifth end.
Mouat’s six straight wins make hum just one point behind Dumfries skip Grant Hardie at the top of the Scottish Curling Tour rankings following Hardie’s shock quarter-final loss to MacLeod on Saturday.
“That’s our first SCT title and we played some tough opposition to win it, so it was a really good weekend for us and we’re pretty chuffed,” said Mouat.
“We managed to take control of the fifth end and Scott was a bit heavy with his final draw. We just controlled the game from then on.”
Edinburgh’s Karina Aitken went out in the quater-finals after back-to-back wins over pre-event favourite Hannah Fleming (7-3) and Katie Murray (5-4). Aitken’s run ended in a 7-4 defeat by Sophie Jackson’s Dumfries team.
