Edinburgh canoeist David Florence has been confirmed in the Great Britain slalom team for next summer’s Rio Olympics.
The triple world champion booked his place with victories at the recent Olympic Trials at Lee Valley, but his selection still needed to be officially ratified by the British Olympic Association.
Florence will now go for gold in the C1 singles and C2 doubles with Rich Hounslow after taking silver in Beijing 2008 and London 2012. “I’d love to win a gold medal. That would be fantastic,” he said.
“I’ve won three world titles, so it’s something that I’m capable of.
“I’m going to do everything I can to the maximum in the next ten months until the Games.”
