Capital diver Grace Reid is currently putting the finishing touches to her preparations for the biggest competition of her fledgling career with the Olympic test event in Rio beginning tomorrow.
The 19-year-old’s 3 metre springboard event does not begin until Monday, but the first few days of competition at the FINA Diving World Cup in the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre will give her the chance to watch and learn from world class competitors.
The Edinburgh Diving Club member has travelled to Brazil with her coach Jen Leeming and training is said to have been going well at the impressive outdoor complex.
Reid’s aim at the event will be to perform positively and push her name forward for Olympic selection as part of the Great Britain team later this year.
The GB team of 15 in Rio features the likes of Tom Daley, Rebecca Gallantree, Jack Laugher and Chris Mears.
Reid’s prelims in the 3 metre springboard event begin at 2pm (GMT) on Monday with the semi-finals and final taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
