Edinburgh snowboarder Kyle Wise took the title honours on his debut entry in the Scottish Snowboard Cross Championships at Glenshee.
The 25-year-old Heriot-Watt University graduate took full advantage of a break from his European commitments to land top spot after finishing first in all of his qualifying heats.
Wise, a member of the GB snowboard cross team, said: “It was really good to win and was the first time I’ve been to the event because usually around this time I’m somewhere in Europe competing or training. But this year I was back home in Scotland so it fitted nicely into my schedule.
“I wasn’t sure what to expect really but I won every heat and was in the lead from the start of every race. Hopefully, the event will become an international competition. I’d definitely like to try and retain my title next year.”
Wise’s end-of-season commitments will see him put in a lot of air miles over the next four weeks. He added: “I’ve got my British Championship title to defend at the end of the month before the Europa Cup finals in Austria and the Swiss National Championships at the start of next month, so I’ve got a lot to cram in before the season ends.”
